INSTALL LINUX ON MAC MINI 2007 MAC
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)Īfter checking a thread about a mid-2009 mac mini here and in other forums I pasted my "lspci -n" to and crosschecked my kernel config against the results.

Just thought I would share my experience with those who are prepared to physically abuse their Mini's and want an arguably easy solution (although I just noticed so perhaps I only needed a Mint DVD, didint find this advise during my installation investigation.Gentoo Forums :: View topic - Gentoo single-boot on MacMini (Mid 2007) - not booting I initially formated the drive to EXT2 but I noticed that the installer automatically makes a EXT4 format, so I imagine EXT4 is what works, later reformated and installed Mint 13 LTS Mate 32 bit, figured it has a longer life span and uses less resources than Mint 15 64 bit, and as expected, works flawlessly.
INSTALL LINUX ON MAC MINI 2007 HOW TO
While searching the web and various forums to get instructions on how to install Linux MInt on an old Mac Mini, and reading about failures and issues, including instructions that included needing an IOS install disk handy as well as other partitioning tools etc, I got bored and took the Mac Mini apart, removed the harddrive, connected it (via external hdd usb) to my pc running Mint 15 64 bit off a usb, ran the install and installed Mint to the Macs harddrive, unplugged it, screwed it back into the case, booted it up and it worked 100% since then, no issues whatsoever, sound, wifi, everything works just fine. Another way to install Mint to a Intel (2007) Mac Mini
